Thumper Outing at Spa Valley Railway Diesel Gala
1317 running on the Spa Valley Railway Restored interior of 1317's driving motor brake car

(above left and right) photographs by Don Benn

The Oxted Unit 1317 Support Group's unit was out running in two car formation during the Spa Valley Railway's Diesel Gala 3rd-5th August. The exterior of the driving motor brake standard saloon car was shabby but this is because it has been rubbed down in preparation for re-painting, hopefully into an accurate "heritage" livery. Its interior, as seen above right, is looking very smart indeed and is in far better condition than during its latter days of service with Southern.
