11187 interior nearing completion

(above) photographs by Bob Burrows

These photographs are of the interior of our driving motor brake third open 11187 which is currently being worked on at Acton... and what a difference a few weeks make! Above the new floor covering is down (though note, not to the original design) and seating frames are beginning to go in. Below, some weeks later, the interior is largely complete with seating installed. Unfortunately 11187 is not open for public viewing except at London's Transport Mueum Depot Open Days. However, our driving motor brake third open 11201 is open for viewing at weekends and on public holidays at platform 1 Horsted Keynes on the Bluebell Railway. In 11201 you can view the construction of the coach and get some idea of the work involved in preservation. Coach 11201 at Horsted Keynes will receive its annual maintenance from May until July so work will then slow down for a while on 11187, but 11201 will still be open for viewing.
